Loading Stalled when capturing a video from the Urban Engine

Description

You receive the following error when attempting to capture a video from an Urban Engine model.

loading_stalled 

This notification is appearing because one or more files in your model are unable to be loaded, preventing the video capture from completing.

Before capturing a frame, the Urban Engine ensures all required data is loaded, ensuring the highest quality video output.  Otherwise, your video capture may contain an incomplete model.

For datasets that stream from the cloud such as terrain or photomesh, this means new data is potentially being downloaded between each frame.

If the Urban Engine is continually unable to download any files at all for more than 10 seconds, this dialog will appear.

Resolution

There are several likely causes for this.  Recommended troubleshooting steps in order of preference are explained below.

Check your internet or network connection

It is possible a temporary internet or network connection disruption has prevented the Urban Engine from accessing cloud or network streamed data.  Verify your internet connection is working correctly and click Yes on the dialog to try again.  This will ask the Urban Engine to try downloading the data again.  If the error appears again and your internet connection is active, continue with the next step.

Check external hard drives

If your model data is stored on external hard drives, please ensure they are plugged in and are using the correct drive letter.

Corrupt or missing model data

This error could be due to corrupt or missing model data.

Open the UC Data folder by navigating to Start -> Programs -> Urban Circus 64 -> UC Data.

Open the Log folder and sort by date modified.  Find the latest Urban Engine log by date and open it in a text editor such as notepad.

In the text editor, open a search feature and enter the term “Failed to load file”.

If you find one or more lines with this entry, it is likely some model data is missing.  Please contact Urban Engine support at support@urbancircus.com.au and attach this log file for further trouble shooting.
